Cattle dung made into cultivation substrate, with a step before adding, good growth does not burn seedlings, very simple

Soilless cultivation of fruits and vegetables, this model is becoming more and more popular, and it is a future discovery trend. We use earthworm cast with planting bags. This low-cost method is very suitable for ordinary growers. It is easy to learn and labor-saving. Some farmers also say that soilless cultivation in other people's greenhouses is very high-end, and the price of substrate in one acre of land is particularly high. Can cow dung, the most common manure, be seen everywhere in rural areas and be made into cultivation substrate?

What kind of substrate is suitable for soilless culture? It should be different from place to place. Choosing the right one can save a lot of cost. If the local cow dung price is low, then using cow dung is a good choice. However, cow dung is not recommended to plant seedlings directly. Although this seems simple, it is easy to cause problems in the later stage. For example, grass seeds in cow dung can't be removed, and weeding in field management is very troublesome. There are some germs and eggs in cow dung, which also need to be treated in advance. Cow urine in wet cow dung will burn seedlings if planted directly.

Therefore, cow dung can only be used as cultivation substrate after treatment. If the next crop of vegetables is changed to soilless cultivation, farmers can make preparations in advance. After all, the cost of substrate is reduced, and the whole cost will be reduced a lot. The method of cow dung treatment is also very simple. It has to be fermented, but natural drying can only kill some diseases and pests, and it can't be completely decomposed. It's best to treat it with starter.

When cow dung is decomposed, adding culture medium starter can not only shorten the fermentation time, but also use microbial decomposition to kill grass seeds, germs and eggs. And then piled into cuboids with a humidity of about 65%. It's aerobic fermentation, so it's necessary to keep the air permeability and not cover it all tightly. In the stage of rising temperature, it should be stirred and contacted with air. Completely decomposed cow dung has no odor, and the whole volume is reduced. The whole process takes about 14 to 20 days, and the fermentation speed will be faster when the temperature is high in summer.

The water and fertilizer retention ability of cow dung is average, and the air permeability is good. If pure cow dung is used as the cultivation substrate, the frequency of watering is high, and it may be watered more than ten times a day when the temperature is high. It is best to have automatic watering and fertilization equipment in greenhouses. In addition, perlite can also be added to cow dung, or mixed with earthworm dung, and can also be used as a cultivation substrate.

The fermented cow dung can be used as the cultivation substrate, which can make use of the waste resources, and farmers can treat it themselves, so they don't have to pay high prices to buy it, and also reduce the cost of soilless cultivation. Therefore, soilless cultivation is not as advanced as farmers think, and it can be planted well after learning. When the next crop is planted, the substrate can continue to be used after salt washing, which saves money and labor than soil planting, so that farmers' planting benefits can be improved.
